Democrats Deliver Response to Trump's Prime Time Address

"A crisis of the heart, and a crisis of the soul", Trump said in the prime time address from the Oval Office. They've been in Congress over half a century.

Trump and Democrats remain at an impasse over border wall funding, with Trump so far refusing to agree to a spending bill that does not include border wall funding and Democrats refusing to support legislation that does fund a border wall.

Overall, Trump largely restated his case for the wall without offering concessions or new ideas on how to resolve the standoff that has kept large swaths of the government closed for the past 18 days. "But they are not going to fool Donald Trump who has got tougher than Pelosi and Schumer". It authorized more checkpoints, advanced technology and unmanned aerial vehicles to help prevent illegal immigration. Those demands have put negotiations between Republicans and Democrats at a standstill, as Democrats say they will not capitulate to what they call a "waste" of taxpayer dollars for "an expensive and ineffective wall".

Speaking from the Rose Garden last week, President Donald Trump claimed that eventual economic benefits from a trade deal with Mexico and Canada meant he was keeping his campaign promise.

Sources told the New York Post that Pelosi and Schumer did not prepare a script for their response.

Calling the shutdown a "dark time for America's workers", Pelosi urged Trump to "end the senseless shutdown" in over to pave the way for lawmakers to debate border security.

"We still don't understand why the Democrats are so wholeheartedly against [the border wall]. So we don't understand why Democrats are now playing politics just because Donald Trump is in office". Yeah, because the president is continuing to throw a temper tantrum and expect to get his way about a wall that no one wanted, that he said Mexico would pay for, and that, it's been reported, was just an easy symbol his advisers came up with to remind him to be extra racist at rallies. Schumer has Pelosi's number memorized.

"That pickup ain't got reverse in it, " Pence said, according to people familiar with the conversation. "They never talk about the overwhelming costs involved in health care, the overwhelming costs that are involved in our public schools", he continued. Levin criticized the "Democrat Party before country" mentality and-tapping into Old Testament tales -claimed it is part of a liberal plan to embrace the Latino vote and keep the GOP doomed to "wandering in the desert" for 40 years.

Wherever you land on the political spectrum, there's no denying that Schumer and Pelosi's stern rebuttal to Trump channeled the feeling of two parents standing side by side and chastising their troublemaking teen-a comparison that was made many times over in the flood of memes the Democratic response sparked online. They fooled Bush 43.
