Corker was joined by Senator Lindsey Graham, who had a scathing reaction after hearing from Haspel about the CIA's conclusions on the October 2 killing in the Saudi consulate in Istanbul. Corker said he's not certain he would support pulling back from Yemen but that "I deserve the right" to back a withdrawal of U.S. involvement in the war effort. "We categorically reject any accusations purportedly linking the Crown Prince to this horrific incident".
He then offered a veiled criticism of Trump. That afternoon, senators frustrated with the briefing and the lack of response to Khashoggi's killing overwhelmingly voted to move forward with consideration of the Yemen resolution, 63-37.
The CIA had concluded the killing was ordered by the crown prince based on audio recordings, communication intercepts and a general understanding of politics in the kingdom under him.
Echoing his GOP colleague following the Central Intelligence Agency briefing, Sen. "I went in believing the crown prince was directly responsible or at least complicit in this and my feeling was strengthened by the information".
"If someone said Secretary Mattis or Pompeo were dishonest, they just don't know those individuals", Stewart told CNN.
Corker said Haspel gave the "most precise presentation I've ever heard in 12 years" in her briefing on the Khashoggi murder.
