WR Bryant to join Saints on one-year deal

Dez joins a Saints team that just took down the only undefeated team in the National Football League last weekend, the Los Angeles Rams. Bryant should be able to play relaxed and show other teams he can still perform.

Bryant took part in a workout with the Saints on Tuesday.

After the three-time Pro Bowler's production dipped last season - 69 receptions for 838 yards and six touchdowns - Bryant was released by the Cowboys with two years remaining on a five-year, $70m contract. After being released in the off-season and failing to find the "right fit", Bryant simply worked out on his own, waiting for the right chance to come.

That Bryant's production fell off in 2017 was more of an indictment of the Cowboys coaching staff than it was an indictment of his ability to still produce in this league.

Veteran Saints tight end Ben Watson said players in New Orleans' locker room must guard against pre-judging Bryant based on superficial observations from old television clips without knowing all the facts or how Bryant has evolved personally since. Regardless of his status this weekend, Bryant will pile up enough reps over the next three weeks to be something close to top speed when he returns to the scene of some of his greatest heroics.

Dez Bryant isn't the same player he once was-the last time we saw him, he was a step slow and still struggling with drops-but that's not a problem right now.

It's official: Dez Bryant is back in the NFL. "It'll be good to see him".

"They're getting a great receiver". "He goes up and attacks the ball better than I've seen anyone". I think at the start of the season, we weren't in that position, and then all of a sudden a couple of guys get nicked up and there becomes a place for him.

Jaylon Smith, the Cowboys' budding star at linebacker, called dibs on Bryant's jersey after the November 29 contest. Elliott and Bryant exchanged text messages Wednesday afternoon.

Cowboys coach Jason Garrett also reacted to the Bryant deal Wednesday. Dez was a great player in this organization for a long time. Really happy for him and that opportunity. "I also don't know what's transpired with him personally since that situation". He wants to finish his career strong.
