The Tennessee Senate race is a face-off between Democrat Phil Bredesen, the former governor of Tennessee, and Republican Marsha Blackburn, a congresswoman representing Tennessee's 7th district.
Blackburn will fill the seat vacated by Republican Bob Corker, who said earlier this year he would retire after two terms.
The $85 million-plus race set a state record in spending by candidates and outside groups, gaining national interest because of its potential implications for the GOP's slim majority in the Senate. She will become Tennessee's first female USA senator, replacing the retiring Bob Corker.

I'm writing this post about the upcoming midterm elections on November 6th, in which I'll be voting in the state of Tennessee. Bredesen angered Democrats and rabid liberals by announcing that he would have supported Brett Kavanaugh's nomination for the Supreme Court, declaring that there was no evidence to support last-minute sexual assault allegations against him.
But those advantages didn't extend to Blackburn, who had a 48 percent approval rating, according to that poll - 5 points lower than Bredesen.
The Democrats won't be picking up a Senate seat in Tennessee. Trump visited the state three times. "And you know what?" Blackburn defeated former Democratic Gov. Phil Bredesen in a hotly contested race that was viewed by many analysts to be a toss-up heading into election day. Marsha is the conservative champion we need in Washington to fight for the Trump agenda. "As much as I have in the past and would like to continue voting for women in office, I can not support Marsha Blackburn", Swift wrote in a lengthy Instagram post that delighted many and predictably turned off Fox News personalities, who regularly rail on celebrities for voicing political opinions. "Having served at the state level as well as the federal level, Marsha will help bring power back to the states and truly make America great again".
