Trump won't take the blame if the GOP loses the House

It could be any Republican president's fantasy: hanging out at a bar with fellow conservative American leaders of years, decades, and even centuries past.

Directly across the table is Abraham Lincoln.

"He had actually given a me real gracious call to tell me how much he liked it", Thomas told the Daily Beast. "He was very complimentary".

"The comments a moment ago that Larry Kudlow made are so irresponsible, so risky that it's just hard to believe that a leading government official could make them", Sanders told host George Stephanopoulos after Kudlow - a fervent climate denier - accused the United Nations of overestimating the severity of the climate crisis.

But Thomas' attention to detail in the painting is commendable. Another portrait shows Democratic presidents playing pool.

The painting by Andy Thomas was spotted by many social media users on Sunday after it was seen during Trump's "60 Minutes" interview.

In June, Trump abandoned his policy of separating immigrant children from their parents on the U.S. -Mexico border after images of youngsters in cages sparked outrage at home and overseas.

A post on Thomas' website said the painting had a "subtle feminist message" and that he found it hard to give Trump a "genuine smile".

"The new motto is Keep America Great", Trump said. He included a similar figure in his painting of Democratic presidents and told Time it represented a future female president, a confident figure who would not be intimidated approaching a table of powerful men. Both versions also have a "subtle feminist message", according to a Time article on Thomas's website. Some pointed out that in the Democrat painting, the woman was smiling, and the Republican painting she was painted with "no mouth".

"They haven't known the children for 20 minutes and they grab children and they use them to come into our country", Trump told reporters, without offering evidence.

The president declared he was unconcerned about other potential threats to his presidency.

Trump's remarks come as Republicans' prospects of maintaining control of the House appear increasingly dim. He also said he seeks out happy pictures to model the faces after in his paintings.
