Even Messi would struggle at Man United this season - Scholes

Michael Essien has hailed Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho and insisted that the Reds could still win titles this season.

With three losses in their opening seven fixtures, United then mounted an epic 3-2 comeback against Newcastle United before the global break to get back on track.

Mourinho will be hoping to get his team back to convincing winning ways on Saturday, October 20 as they travel to London to face in-form Chelsea at the Stamford Bridge.

Unlike player disciplinary matters there is not a pre-determined punishment for cases of this kind, meaning any sanction would need to be decided after a hearing.

The former United midfielder has been critical of Mourinho during the club's recent patchy form, stating that he expected the Portuguese to be sacked after the loss to West Ham last month. "Same with Kane", the 43-year old concluded. "We have Jesse Lingard who, on his day, can be that type of player, but you never really know what his best position is".

For Scholes, United's current players do not have what is required.

" We were watching Liverpool and City from afar and smirking as they changed managers and players every year, never getting anything right".

Defensively, Mourinho seems to have a set back five this season when all of his players are fit.

An angry Mourinho questioned the timing of Pogba's Instagram video and the frosty exchange played out in front of Sky Sports' cameras which happened to be on the touchline at United's Carrington training base.

Marcus Rashford impressed on worldwide duty with England and should likely be rewarded while Romelu Lukaku will be a certainty to start unless injured.

Priority number one would be keeping a hold on Premier League top scorer Eden Hazard, who has been in scintillating form under Sarri with seven goals in eight appearances so far.

"I am backing him because I am still going to be his No.1 fan!"

'For you to have an idea, I don't usually have any English media on my phone so I don't get intoxicated with everything they say.
