Emily Blunt stars as the titular character of Disney's "Mary Poppins" reboot, 'Mary Poppins Returns.' And just a few seconds into the first trailer for the film, we can already tell that Emily was the ideal casting choice. Mary Poppins Returns premieres in theaters on December 19. The film was written by David Magee (Finding Neverland) and directed by Rob Marshall (Chicago).
The sequel that's been 54 years in the making re-introduces the Banks family's children, Jane and Michael (Emily Mortimer and Ben Whishaw), now all grown up and with kids of their own.

As they fly the toy, the clouds literally part and Mary Poppins descends to Earth from the heavens, shocking Michael and Jane with her sudden return. The producers are Marshall, DeLuca and Marc Platt with Callum McDougall serving as executive producer and the music is by Marc Shaiman with songs by Shaiman and Scott Wittman.
Blunt will be supported by Lin Manuel-Miranda as Jack, Meryl Streep as Poppin's eccentric cousin Topsy, Colin Firth as banker William Weatherall Wilkins, and Julie Walters as the Banks housekeeper. More than five decades after Julie Andrews won the Best Actress Oscar for her role in the original Mary Poppins, a follow-up sequel is finally here!
