Will you be signing up for Switch Online once it debuts on September 18th?

Nintendo eShop maintenance planned after launch.

The Nintendo Switch Online service will let subscribers play online multiplayer games such as Mario Kart 8 Deluxe and Splatoon 2 online.

The much anticipated online gaming service for the popular Nintendo Switch has a start date: September 18.

The service also unlocks access to a library of NES games, including Super Mario Bros.

"Friends can even watch each other play single-player games online, and "pass the controller" at any time". For individual memberships, one, three and 12-month subscriptions will cost $3.99, $7.99 and $19.99, respectively. If you somehow manage to lose your Switch or it gets damaged, you can recover your cloud saves and any purchased digital content without too much hassle, along with your Nintendo Switch Online account. Nintendo Switch Online players will also get to enjoy 20 classic Nintendo games, with more to come.

In a short but sweet kick-off during today's Nintendo Direct, the company announced Luigi's Mansion 3 for Nintendo Switch.
