Here's Johnny: Wait is over as Manziel makes first CFL start

Manziel's first start went very similar to Peterman's. He finished the first half connecting on 9 of 16 passes for 90 yards and four interceptions as Montreal took a 38-3 deficit to the locker room.

Manziel had another pass intercepted on his third series, with the blame going to running back Tyrell Sutton for mishandling and deflecting the ball to defender Jumal Rolle. This time, it was picked off by Jumal Rolle, who played in 18 National Football League games from 2014-15 before signing with the Tiger Cats this year.

Manziel didn't have a great debut in the National Football League either, though he has never thrown four interceptions in one game before.

Retired CFL star Nik Lewis tweeted that the team should not have put Manziel in this situation and wished the QB well.

Manziel finished the half 9 of 16 for 90 yards in his first regular-season action with the NFL's Cleveland Browns in a 17-13 loss to Kansas City on December 27, 2015. He had four practices with the Alouettes' first team before Friday night's game, and the quarterback's rust showed. "I've had this experience in the past and there's two ways you go about this going forward".

It was a much-anticipated day for Manziel, who last made a professional start in 2015 with the Browns and spent six games as a backup in the CFL before Friday.

"You can let this get you down and sulk and harm you moving forward. The other way is to just take this on the chin like a man and never allow this taste to creep back in your mouth again and never let this happen again".

"This game is humbling", Manziel said.

"The mistakes he made, he'll learn from", said Sherman, who plans to stick with Manziel as his starter.

"It was just a bad day", Manziel said. I did a bad job of setting the tone on that first drive.

To say that the debut was a disaster is an understatement, as the one-time Browns stater's linescore read something like this - 11-for-20 passing for 104 yards and no touchdowns. His first game in the CFL didn't offer a ton of hope he can make it in Canada.

TWENTY-THREE POINTS - That's Montreal's single-game season high, achieved twice, and a target Manziel will be looking to beat. If nothing else, it appeared as if Manziel cares.
