Trump to Sessions: end Russian Federation probe 'right now'

Trump's legal team had previously offered Mueller written answers to questions related to obstruction of justice.

In a series of tweets Wednesday morning, Trump said Sessions should stop the Mueller probe, which he again labelled as "Rigged Witch Hunt".

"The President of the United States just called on his Attorney General to put an end to an investigation in which the President, his family and campaign may be implicated", Rep. Adam Schiff of California, the top Democrat on the House Intelligence Committee, said on Twitter.

Sessions recused himself from overseeing the probe, leaving Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein in charge of it.

White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders later echoed Trump's lawyers during a White House briefing, saying the president is frustrated with a process that has angered many Americans. "The President has expressed the same opinion".

Richard Blumenthal, a former prosecutor, said Trump's tweets could help build a case of obstruction of justice against him.

Trump said the "Russian hoax" is holding up his approach to Russia, and he lashed out at the media, which he said unfairly maligned last month's meeting.

Trump has steadily attacked his attorney general for recusing himself from the Russian Federation probe.

The President's lawyers are unwilling to concede to follow-ups in person, citing concerns that Mr. Trump will increase his legal exposure, the people said.

In a subsequent interview with the Guardian, Frank said that Democrats' attitudes over the years is actually helping Trump widen his fan base.

Giuliani's remarks come a day after he called for Mueller's probe to present evidence of collusion between the US and Russian Federation during the 2016 election, or to disband the investigation altogether. They also played a key role in arranging a June 2016 meeting attended by Trump's son Donald Trump Jr.; his son-in-law and now senior adviser Jared Kushner; Paul Manafort, Trump's campaign chairman at the time; Russian lawyer Natalya Veselnitskaya; and others, according to congressional testimony.

As you can see in the picture above, both Trump and Agalarov were present at the 2013 Miss America pageant in Moscow.

The president's tweets also came on the second day of his former campaign chairman Paul Manafort's trial-the first out of Mueller's probe.

The White House claims the president's tweet was not a demand.

Wray told reporters that compared to 2016, in 2018, "We are not yet seeing the same kind of efforts to specifically target election infrastructure", but that other efforts to influence public opinion continue.

"Had Trump directed a recused AG to terminate an investigation into his conduct and the conduct of those around him in private, we would nearly surely deem it a criminal act", says Joyce White Vance, a former federal prosecutor.

Among them: that Mueller not ask any questions about actions Trump has taken as president, including his private discussions with Comey.

The request could reinvigorate legislation that would protect Mueller from being fired without cause.

No. 3 Senate GOP leader John Thune of South Dakota said, "The idea that they should truncate it doesn't make sense to me". Giuliani said. "We have every reason to believe they don't have anything".
