Jennifer Lopez to receive MTV's Video Vanguard Award

Jennifer Lopez is set to be honoured with the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award at the 2018 MTV Video Music Awards.

Over the years, Lopez has snagged two Moon trophies, among 21 nominations.

The Vanguard Award has recognized great accomplishments for music performers since the first Video Music Awards ceremony in 1984. The legendary singer will be honored with the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award.

Throughout her career, the 49-year-old has sold more than 80 million records globally, had 16 top 10 hit singles, and three No. 1 albums.

"It is awesome, honestly".

A lot of people are voicing their disapproval on social media of this announcement, some bringing up the fact that Missy Elliot has yet to receive the award and should have before Lopez. I can't even believe it.

The 2018 MTV VMAs will air live from New York City's Radio City Music Hall on Monday, Aug. 20, at 9 p.m. PM ET/PT.

Britney Spears, 36, Justin Timberlake, 37, Beyonce, 36, Kanye West, 41, Rihanna, 30, Pink, 38, Guns N' Roses, Madonna, 59, and Michael Jackson are among the list of artists who have received the award.
