Tensions are mounting between Donald Trump and Iran - the U.S. president's raw tweet threatening Tehran was met on Monday (Jul 23) with a similarly bilious reply, upping the ante in the high-stakes game of diplomatic chicken.
Earlier on Sunday, Rouhani said in a speech (see: Iran's President: Mr. Trump, War With Iran Would Be the Mother of All Wars), "The Americans must fully understand that peace with Iran is the mother of all the peace, and war with Iran would be the mother of all wars".
US Press Secretary Sarah Sanders said that "if anybody's inciting anything, look no further than to Iran".
Oil prices rose Monday after President Donald Trump delivered Iranian President Hassan Rouhani a frenzied threat on Twitter, promising in all caps that Iran would suffer grave "consequences" if it continued to threaten the US.
Kamel Wazne said Iran can not trust America after Mr Trump pulled his country out of the nuclear deal with world powers and re-imposed sanctions on Tehran.
Speaking in California, Pompeo described Iran's religious leadership as a "mafia".
Tension between the USA and Iran has been high ever since Trump pulled out of the United States' 2015 nuclear deal with Iran.
The offensive is meant to work in concert with severe economic sanctions that Washington plans to reimpose in the coming months, including the restrictions on oil exports.

He said the Trump administration will not stay silent against what he calls the numerous crimes and abuses of the Iranian government.
"We call on all sides to exercise restraint and rhetorical disarmament", he told reporters.
"BE CAUTIOUS!", Trump wrote.
"You declare war against the Iranian people and then claim you support them?" he added at the event in the Iranian capital.
On May 8, Trump unilaterally withdrew the United States from a 2015 multilateral nuclear deal with Iran over the objections of Europe as well as Russian Federation and China - the other parties to the deal, which is officially known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA).
Gen. Gholam Hossein Gheibparvar, the chief of the paramilitary Revolutionary Guard's volunteer Basij force, said Trump "won't dare" take any military action against Iran. While the media and Democrats used this tweet to suggest Trump was unhinged and unsafe, this response was far from unprovoked.

Iran has faced increased USA pressure and possible sanctions since May.
Rouhani's message came amid rising tensions between his country and the United States.
"They express themselves through speeches since diplomatic channels are closed", he said. "The United States is with you", Pompeo said according to prepared remarks released in advance of his speech.
