A highlight of the keynote came from Google Assistant technology of the future, as Google boss Sundar Pichai demonstrated Duplex - a feature that will book appointments and make reservations on a user's behalf.

Google Photos, which already has a powerful editing suite and machine learning features will be a getting a huge AI boost, which will be giving users B&W photo colorization, brightness correction and suggested rotations. Google's also opening its AI features more to developers. For the first time Android P stops apps from gathering information on users when they are idle, including the likes of location, and network status, as well as access to the camera or microphone.

To make Google Assistant more user friendly, a feature of "continued conversation" was introduced where a user would not have to say "OK Google" repeatedly and can follow up the conversation.

Other than the new Dashboard app, Google is bringing updates to Do Not Disturb.

Google Duplex uses a natural-sounding computer-generated voice which "ums" and "ahs" and is able to navigate complex conversations.
