Entrance stations will not be manned, although people will not be barred from entering. The Grand Teton National Park Foundation will continue grooming the park's Teton Park Road for ski access. However, if a private concessionaire has worked out in advance a way to remove snow, trash, etc, without the assistance of the park, they MAY be able to continue operations. Depending on how long the shutdown lasts, parks that are open today might be forced to close if snow falls and roads become impassable, because the park workers who normally clear roads are furloughed.
Teton Interagency Dispatch Center will be available during normal winter hours-6 am to 10 pm daily.
Outside the park, both Yellowstone's NPS website and social media have been suspended.
The scene on the Mall contrasted dramatically with the last government shutdown, in 2013, when park officials erected barriers around the monuments to keep the public out.

Sen. Steve Daines, R-Mont., said the Trump administration is trying to minimize the effects of the shutdown by keeping parks open, but he accused former President Barack Obama of doing the opposite. Access to all residences will be maintained, while concessioners and commercial-use authorization holders may continue to provide visitor series after coordination with the park to ensure compliance with government shutdown protocols.

Bush Presidential Center and its museum remain open during the weekend, though its research room and other archival activities will be closed for the duration of the shutdown, according to a news release. Bighorn Canyon National Recreation Area, Devils Tower National Monument, Fossil Butte National Monument, and Fort Laramie National Historic site are all closed and access is limited in some cases.
In New Mexico, parts of Bandelier National Monument's cliff dwellings and fragile archaeological sites were off-limits to protect them from damage, but the entrance road and some trails were open.
