Aubameyang has 21 goals in 23 matches this season, including 13 in 15 Bundesliga appearances. If he does not want to be part of that, another player will be get his chance.

Stoeger said Aubameyang "briefly indicated that he had forgotten" the team meeting, "but we all know that that's not quite the case".

Such a signing would come at a critical time for Arsenal, as Alexis Sánchez, the club's star player over the past few seasons, seems set to officially leave the club at any moment.

"There is the opportunity to show that he is ready every week", Stoger said.

Despite such turbulence, Stoger welcomed Aubameyang back to training on Monday and saw no reason to give him any special attention.

The Borussia Dortmund forward has been heavily linked with a move to the Emirates in recent days, as Alexis Sanchez finally nears his Arsenal exit.

"Why are you going to spend that amount of money bringing somebody like him in who has a bad disciplinary record if he's not going to play - which he won't because for me you play Lacazette". We're not used to this behaviour from him. It is clear that he can't continue like that and what is happening now won't be tolerated by the club. It is clear: It can not go on like this.

Aubameyang was previously suspended in November after repeatedly turning up late for training while in November 2016 he missed a Champions League game against Sporting Lisbon after taking a trip to Milan without approval from the club.

"There is trouble in the team and that is not good".
