Facebook to change its news feed to make it 'good for people'


What do you think about the changes to the news feed pretty much everyone uses every day? Last month, the company released a report how people consume content on Facebook and the different ways it can be positive or negative for you.

When Facebook's two billion users scroll through their News Feeds in the coming weeks, they can expect to see more content from their friends and family, and less from businesses, brands and media, the company announced Thursday.

For now, Page content will remain on the Feed - although businesses are going to have to work harder to keep their content relevant when competing for less space on the News Feed.

Prioritizing family and friends against Publishers and Brands will hurt them as they get most of traffic through Facebook.

"But I also expect the time you do spend on Facebook will be more valuable".

The Facebook CEO's latest announcement is nearly a total reversal from a deal he offered publishers in 2014, whereby they could host articles directly on its mobile app, giving them easy access to Facebook's 1.37 billion active users.
