Big Mega Millions jackpot victor in Florida!

Powerball and Mega Millions lottery tickets are displayed on January 3, 2018 in San Anselmo, California.

The winning ticket matched all six of the numbers - 28,30,39,59,70 and the Mega Ball was 10 - drawn on Friday. On Wednesday, there was no victor of the Powerball jackpot, worth an estimated $460 million. The winner's name, city of residence and details on the winnings can be made public, while the winner's home address and telephone numbers are to be kept "confidential", according to the Florida Lottery website. The jackpot has been rolling since October, when the last jackpot of $42 million was won by players in MI and Rhode Island, according to Mega Millions.

The biggest Powerball jackpot ever won was $590.5 million claimed by one ticket-holder in Florida in 2013.

Going into the weekend, both Mega Millions and Powerball, the other national lottery game, were stoking their jackpots because of a string of no-wins. The retailer will receive a $100,000 bonus for selling the winning ticket. That drawing is Saturday night. Most winners opt for cash payouts, which would be $281 million for Mega Millions and $358.5 million for Powerball.

That would be the fifth-largest jackpot in that game's history. One Virginia ticket is worth $1 million, lottery officials announced Saturday morning. On Aug. 15, 2012, Donald Lawson, of Lapeer, won a $337 million Powerball jackpot.

It is rare for both of the U.S.' largest jackpots to grow to such large amounts at the same time-but in the last three years the rules for both games have been tweaked to give them longer odds and larger, more eye-catching jackpots. Puerto Rico also participates in Powerball.
