Sears Holdings Corp. will close two dozen Sears Auto Centers, including three each in California and Texas, as part of a plan to close 103 stores in the company's latest round of closures announced on January 4. The list includes 64 KMart stores, and 39 Sears outlets.

The good news for Berkshire County Sears aficionados is that only one of the stores slated for closure on the most recent list is located in MA, a Sears outlet in Burlington.

Hoffman Estates, Illinois-based Sears Holdings Corp. owns Sears, Kmart and Roebuck and Co. No Sears stores in MI are included in the latest round of shutdowns, which will take place between early March and April.

The Sanford Kmart on South Horner Boulevard will close its doors for the final time in April.

"We will continue to close some unprofitable stores as we transform our business model so that our physical store footprint and our digital capabilities match the needs and preferences of our members", the company said on Thursday. Sears wouldn't say how employees will be affected, but did say the majority of the jobs are part-time positions, and eligible associates will receive severance. And by the end of October 2017, Sears Holdings had just over 1,000 stores left in the U.S.

Sears Canada filed for bankruptcy previous year, and is in the process of shuttering its business entirely.
