Speaking at a meet-and-greet event with fans in Raghavendra Kalyanamandapam here, Rajinikanth said, "I will reveal my decision on December 31". Rajinikanth, who has stridden the Tamil cine world like a colossus for the past four decades and enjoys nearly a demigod-like status among his legion of followers, might make public his political entry during his address to fans. "According to me, a common man should become Jayalalithaa's successor in Tamil Nadu politics instead of actors so that they will work for the welfare of masses", she added.
During his meeting with fans in May, Rajinikanth also had said, "Let us face the war when it comes".
The actor said he was not new to politics, however, it required time to "study and strategise".
He also advised his fans not to focus on the negative information being circulated in the social media. I am hesitant to enter politics since I know its dynamics.More news: White House Pushes Back at Times Immigration Report: 'Outrageous'
In the last one year, Tamil Nadu has witnessed high political drama after the death of Jayalalithaa. The Tamil superstar, whose "Kala" is expected to hit the screens in the first half of 2018, kept up the suspense by saying, "It does not mean that that I will come to politics.I will announce my stand (on Sunday)", Rajinikanth said.
The possibility of Rajinikanth's entry into politics has been debated for about two decades, but amid the AIADMK turmoil, speculation is intense. Here the war is elections and I'm strategising my victory that if I go war, I'll win.
With actors such as Kamal Haasan and Vishal taking the political plunge this year, rumours of the "Superstar" entering politics have only gone louder. "Rajinikanth will certainly enter politics but he won't be announcing it anytime soon. I will announce a decision on December 31".
In November, Rajinikanth had told reporters that there was no hurry for him to enter politics.
