Looks like Florida State should not be bowl eligible this year

Taggart is trying to bring some lighthearted fun back to the Florida State football program, and the players are showing their appreciation for the change.

But the bowl could also present its fair share of difficulty as the Seminoles aim to clinch a 7-6 record and the 41st consecutive winning season in program history.

Florida State went 6-6 this season, a true stinker of a campaign that all went to shit the moment Deondre Francois went down clutching his knee.

User bakonydraco submitted a post, which has been confirmed by multiple sources including Brett McMurphy, formerly of ESPN, that Florida State's 77-6 win over Delaware State should not have counted toward the team's bowl eligibility.

Delaware State is an FCS school, and NCAA rules state that an FBS team's win over an FCS school can only count towards their bowl eligibility if that FCS school has "awarded at least 90% of the FCS scholarship limit".

Given that we're less than a week away from the Independence Bowl between Florida State and Southern Miss, even Reddit acknowledges that nothing significant is likely to come of this report in terms of the Seminoles actually not playing in the game.

The Conference USA outfits were among the top five teams averaging the fewest turnovers in Division I, at 8.8 per game, but committed a season-worst 20 against FSU, and it also cost them 21 points.

Just finishing the 2017 season - period - will likely be a relief to Florida State fans.

Florida State notably had to scramble to get to bowl eligibility this year. "We're continuing preparations for our game".

Florida State will still play in the December 27 Independence Bowl, largely because it is too late to make a change.

FSU is expected to use around 3,000 of its bowl allotment 6,000 tickets, according to school officials.

"I just wanted to make sure I get the right guys", Taggart said.

It has been a rough year for Florida State.

Florida State should cruise to victory and head into the most hard three-game run of any team in college basketball high on confidence.

In the weird and freakish winding road that has been the Florida State Seminoles 2017 season, this latest development nearly seems fitting.
