NBA Trade: Sixers reportedly send Jahlil Okafor, Stauskas to Nets for Booker

The news was initially reported by Zach Lowe of ESPN.

The trade comes in after Okafor requested to be bought out from the 76ers but the team denied that request. Shams Charania of The Vertical confirmed the deal, and included that the Sixers will get veteran big man Trevor Booker back in return. He has only appeared in two games this season, averaging 5.0 points and 4.5 rebounds in 12.5 minutes per game.

When looking at all of the drama behind the center expressing his frustration by still being on the team without receiving playing time, a fresh start for Okafor was best for both parties. It will be interesting to see how he will fit with this Nets team.

Stauskas has played in six games for the 76ers on the year. The Sixers free up cap space for this upcoming offseason by moving Stauskas asusming that they do not retain Booker's services beyond this season.

Stauskas has appeared in six games off of the Sixers' bench and has averaged 7.3 points, 2.1 rebounds and 1.7 assists per game during his four-year National Basketball Association career. He will need to up that percentage just a bit in order to get consistent minutes off the bench. Dario Saric is a starting POWER FORWARD and is the fourth string center. After waiting for both to get healthy, Philly now sits in the 5th seed in the Eastern Conference and could make the playoffs for the first time since the 2011-2012 season.
