- A 17-year-old Florida girl believed to be on the run with a high school soccer coach and seen last weekend in Fayetteville has been found in NY and is safe, the Columbia County Sheriff's Office tweeted Friday evening.
The pair was spotted at 4 p.m. Friday by a State Police investigator, Todd Grant, who recognized Rodriguez's red Mercury sedan and its Florida license plates. Rodriquez was taken into custody without incident and Frisina was detained.
Frisina's parents were overjoyed their daughter had been found after police issued several appeals for the missing teen and launched a search across state lines.
Scarlet Frisina, the teen's mother told CBS News on Friday, "I know that she to some degree left on her own".
It wasn't immediately clear whether she was found with Rodriguez.More news: Earthquake Strikes Delaware, No Damage Reported In Maryland
There was no word when the family will return to Lake City. Authorities say she apparently sneaked out of her bedroom window and had been missing since Saturday. As of Friday, the teen was being held in police custody until a reunion with her family could be arranged.
They were also spotted early Sunday evening at a pawn shop in Fayetteville, Hunter said.
"She's with a person who is 10 years her senior in a supervisory capacity over her as a coach", Hunter said.
Rodriguez was a coach for the boys' soccer team at Fort White High School in Fort White, Fla.
Authorities did not disclose any information about Rodriguez or his whereabouts.
