There's An Amiibo On Every Box Of Super Mario Cereal

Kellogg's and Nintendo have teamed up for Super Mario Cereal, a sugary breakfast cereal created to promote Super Mario Odyssey.

We still have a month to go and Super Mario Odyssey could still be dethroned by Mario Kart 8 Deluxe or Breath of the Wild, but the latest solo Mario adventure now has a firm grasp as the top video game sold by the mega e-tailer in 2017.

Not only do you get a tasty breakfast cereal in the morning, but the box acts as an Amiibo. Along with that confirmation comes more details about what the box will do when used as an amiibo. Available in the USA only, the mixed-berry flavor and "power-up mushrooms" aren't its only novelty - each box doubles as a functioning amiibo for Super Mario Odyssey, too. Everyone can agree that 2017 has been a great year for the Japanese gaming giant, thanks to the blockbuster launch of the Nintendo Switch, and several critically acclaimed games that saw it triumph over the dark days of the Wii U. In addition to collectible Super Mario Odyssey box art, each Super Mario Cereal box functions as an amiibo accessory, making breakfast a more playable experience.

According to the cereal focused website Cerealousy, Kelloggs is apparently working on a Super Mario-themed cereal. "We are always looking for new opportunities to bring smiles to people of all ages, and this is a fun way to kick off the day".

Super Mario Odyssey was released exclusively for the Nintendo Switch on October 27th. The company has teamed up with Kellogg's for Super Mario Cereal, as a limited edition cereal box that will reach the United States next month.
