Amazon is using its new service to leverage its massive internet infrastructure serving the technology world's back end.
One of the biggest value adds for Alexa for Business is its conference room support.
"In the workplace, shared devices can be placed in common areas for anyone to use, and workers can use their personal devices to connect at work and at home".
But it's not limited to just starting shows or movies. Those basic commands also work with Amazon Prime Video.
"You no longer ever have to type in a conference ID - you can say, "hey Alexa, start a meeting", because it knows which room you're in and which meeting should be taking place there".More news: Melania Trump shows people inside a (very) Christmas White House
Amazon has released tools to accelerate third-party development around Alexa, and today Amazon boasts more than 20,000 third-party skills that people can install and then summon from Alexa.
In assuming the role, Burleigh will oversee the arrival of Amazon Alexa and Alexa-enabled devices across A/NZ in early 2018, created to open up new opportunities for developers on both sides of the Tasman.
There are also more practical uses for Alexa in a work setting, such as changing the temperature in a particular conference room or turning the lights on and off.
The Alexa for business also provides an opportunity for the enterprise to access the business information outside the office or on their phones using Alexa app on their smartphones.
Alexa for Business works with Microsoft Office 365, Microsoft Exchange, and Google G Suite. For instance, you can ask Alexa to tell Ghost to save your current loadout as your Crucible loadout (or Nightfall, Strike, or Trials of the Nine Loadout).
"As part of the developer preview, we built a private Alexa for Business skill that allows our teams to quickly check the status on our systems, or to request specific updates on high severity events, but we needed a way to make this available to our teams without publishing it in the Alexa Skills Store".
