Valkyria Chronicles 4 announced for 2018, is coming to the Switch

Sega has also announced that the first story DLC for the game will be focused around a joint battle with the first game's Squad 7, and completing it will unlock those characters for use in the main campaign. According to the developers, its vibrant and evocative art style portrays a living canvas of watercolors, and a gripping World War II-inspired story full of momentous triumphs, heartbreaking loss, and unexpected hope for the human spirit. The game is being developed for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch, with its release planned for sometime in 2018.

Expect the same turn-based strategy RPG mixed with third-person shooting gameplay, arty watercolour anime visuals and another score from Hitoshi Sakimoto. Although the Federation struggles valiantly against the Empire's forces, the relentless imperial military machine threatens to consume them. Three other characters have been shown: heavy weapons technician Riley Miller, Darcsen division officer Raz, and sniper prodigy Kai Schulen.

Players take control and command Claude Wallace and his loyal childhood friends in Squad E. The team is sent out to fight and secure the Imperial capital in a last-ditch attempt to end the war. The first Valkyria Chronicle was released by Sega back in 2008 for PS3 platform, along with a sequel that followed in 2010 on PSP. There's some new ideas including a Grenadier class, offensive and defensive battleship support options and Last Stand actions before death.

Valkyria Chronicles 4, the newest installment in the long-running Valkyria saga, is making its worldwide debut next year in 2018.
