Jeff Long no longer Razorback Athletic Director, interim appointed

Arkansas has fired athletic director Jeff Long after almost 10 years at the school.

Long, who previously served as Arkansas AD from 2008 until Wednesday, has more than 35 years of college football experience as an administrator, coach and athlete.

That hasn't worked out, as Arkansas is just 4-6 this season and three games under.500 with Bielema at the controls. However, over the past year, Jeff has lost the support of many of our fans, alumni, key supporters, and members of the university leadership, support that I believe is critical in our pursuit of excellence.

Long has served as Arkansas' athletic director since 2008 and was the first chair of the College Football Playoff selection committee.

Long was praised after that season for his hiring of Bielema away from Wisconsin.

Bielema is 29-32 overall and 11-27 in the SEC over his five seasons at Arkansas.

"Until it's been officially notified to me, I hear from people officially and then it's just you know like everybody else, just gather the information until it goes".

Bielema had been the head coach for the Badgers since 2006. "I know this, winning ball games helps everybody, so that's all I'm focused on".

Long is staying on the College Football Playoff selection committee, as announced in a statement by CFP executive director Bill Hancock on Wednesday afternoon. "Everything he stands for, everything he tries to give them on the field, off the field". Demirel said Long was a driving force behind a $160 million expansion to Fayetteville's Donald W. Reynolds Razorback Stadium. "It's been awesome to witness".
