Pete Lau, CEO of OnePlus, also revealed in a detailed post on the official OnePlus forum that the new phone would ship with the 3.5mm socket for wired headphone connectivity.

The reason why the company changed its decision is that wireless charging gives the power output of 15 watts which is comparatively less than what dash charge technology offers. For those who don't know, Dash Charge is the system charging system for OnePlus models, and one of their marquee features.

The main reason to retain the dash charge technology is attributed to the fact that the technology is capable of delivering 20 watts of power.

According to Lau, the company prefers dash charge because of the stability, reliability, and safety of power. It is also expected to features 128GB of storage. All you need is the Dash Charge cable and adaptor to consistently power your device at a superior rate. And you can't use your phone while it charges, since picking it up will stop the charging. Users could be gaming, streaming video or browsing through their social feeds while fast charging their smartphones. Wireless charging requires remodeling of the phone as well since wireless charging does not work well through metal, and such a revision is no cheap process.

Such type of charging makes your phone more complicated to use.

Commenting on the success of the ticket sales for OnePlus 5T launch event, Vikas Agarwal, GM, OnePlus India, said, "As a young company in the smartphone space, our theme has always been simple: stay humble and create unique experiences for our users".

And for the first time, OnePlus fans in India can also witness the launch of OnePlus 5T at select PVR Theatres across 5 cities - Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore, Hyderabad and Pune.

He added that wireless charging technology needs to get more mature. The point of charging should be to have the phone spend as little time as possible connected to the charger. "Samsung's display technology is now the best for Optic AMOLED". Until then, we'll stick to Dash Charge.
