Police are investigating an altercation between a Hurricanes fan and an officer during Saturday's game between No. 10 Miami and No. 13 Virginia Tech.
Police said Bridget Freitas slapped an officer while being carried out during Miami's win Saturday over Virginia Tech at Hard Rock Stadium.
An armed robber on a bicycle rolled up to man who had just walked out of a Northwest Miami-Dade food market, demanded money and then shot him in the face, police said. At that moment, the officer retaliates by hitting the woman in the face.
The video shows that there are four officers holding each of her limbs and lifting her up and out of the stadium: She wasn't going anywhere, and with 4-on-1 odds, there is clearly only one party in control.
"Promoting a safe and secure environment during any special event is our primary concern", lvaro Zabaleta, a Miami-Dade police detective, told the Independent. She was subsequently arrested for Battery on a Law Enforcement Officer and Disorderly Conduct/Breach of the peace. The Pembroke Pines woman, a registered nurse, bonded out Sunday morning.More news: Commerce sets AD/CVD rates after failure to reach US-Canada lumber deal
As for what happened before the video, according to the arrest report, Ross went to Section 129 after a disturbance was reported there.
"Supervisory personnel are aware of the video, and are reviewing the incident to ensure compliance with our policies and procedures".
She then sat on the stairs of the section and refused to move, leading to the officers having to forcibly take her out.
Prior to the altercation, she was "arguing with stadium patrons and using profanity in a loud boisterous manner", according to a police affidavit.
