In Portland, 3,732 early-voting ballots had been accepted as of Monday. St. Paul may not be able to announce the victor of the mayoral race until Saturday night - because they're counting all the ballots by hand.

Hamline University political science professor David Schultz says there's no polling in either mayor's race, but the dynamics in Minneapolis favor the incumbent, Betsy Hodges. The only other contest on the ballot is for St. Paul School Board, where voters will choose three candidates.

The Board of Elections said eight percent of registered voters have been to the polls as of noon, putting these numbers on target with the last election. "That was nearly 10 days ago, a political eternity, so I think slightly the chance is for Harris".

Smith County residents will be able to vote at any of the 34 polling locations, which will be open from 7 a.m.to 7 p.m.
