Nintendo Switch Update 4.0 Also Adds GameCube Controller Support

Classic Nintendo GameCube controllers can now work with the Nintendo Switch via a USB adapter, following a version 4.0.0 system update released late last week. Switch?! Who knows, but we demonstrate how the Wii U USB controller adapter works so you can try it for yourselves! Nintendo may simply be working on an entirely new installment of the franchise and need the GameCube controller to help test it out.

Whether you're nostalgic for the early 2000's (someone is, right?), or, more importantly, deep into the Super Smash Bros. scene, the news that you can now use a GameCube controller with a Nintendo Switch will bring a smile to your face.

Since Nintendo made the Switch compatible with GameCube and didn't release the information, could this mean they're planning something to utilize the controllers? Once you plug in the adapter into the console, open the settings menu and press the L & R buttons together.

The Nintendo Switch is a unique handheld and as such, it was only natural for unique accessories to arrive to market for the console. Once this is done, the controller is ready to use. This will make navigating back to the Switch's home page quite tricky.
