The 24 year old Pakistani journalist Zeenat Shehzadi who went missing while investigating disappearance of an Indian citizen in Pakistan in Auguts 2015 has scripted a new chapter of human values at a time whem vested interests in India and Pakistan are busy drawing lines of hatered between people of two countries.
According to Justice (r) Javed Iqbal, Shahzadi was recovered from the Pakistan-Afghanistan border by security forces.
He also points out that the tribals from Balochistan and Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa provinces have played a key role in her recovery. She was allegedly kidnapped by unidentified men while she was on her way to work in an autorickshaw from her home in Lahore on August 19, 2015. After taking this assignment he said he would continue as the chief of the missing persons' commission.
The Journalist's family had assumed her to be dead but at last she had been rescued by security forces. "Non-state actors and anti-state agencies had abducted her and she has been rescued from their custody", he added. In her attempts to track down and Indian national, Hamid Ansari who had been embroiled in espionage allegations, Shahzadi had managed to get in touch with Ansari's mother, Fauzia Ansari. "When she spoke to Ansari's mother she literally cried along with her and vowed to help". Fauzia was happy to hear the news of Zeenat being rescued, she said,"I was asked earlier that between Zeenat and my son whom I would want to be released first and I had said Zeenat". Deciding that he had to see her, Ansari reportedly entered Pakistan illegally via Afghanistan, failing to obtain a visa.More news: Officers who dragged doctor off U.S. flight sacked
"For the past two years, I have been praying for Zeenat as well as Hamid".
IA Rehman, the Human rights activists and former secretary general Human Rights Commission of Pakistan has advocated that Ansari should be released from Jail as he has already served his sentence.
Zeenat, whose brother had committed suicide after her abduction, was reunited with her family in Lahore.
