Hackenberg completed just 2 of 6 passes for 14 yards. Two Bilal Powell runs for a total of three yards and a quarterback sack by Cornelius Washington for a loss of nine yards forced NY into punt formation on their first drive. Powell also rushed nine times for 32 yards. Veteran Josh McCown, the projected Week 1 starter, did not play.
Silver linings for the Jets were harder to find in this one than Todd Bowles' smile in a 16-6 loss to Detroit at Ford Field. He led his team down the field while going 6/8 with 55 yards and a touchdown pass to Marvin Jones Jr., giving Detroit a 10-0 lead in the second quarter. Jones caught four passes for 34 yards during the drive and scored when he beat one-on-one coverage on the right side of the end zone.More news: Why The Galaxy Note 8 Won't Explode
The poor outing came after Hackenberg was 18 of 25 for 127 yards in last week's win over the Titans.
Ross Martin's 31-yard field goal early in the fourth ended the Jets' scoring drought. Prater's 50-yard field goal with 1:11 remaining completed the scoring.
