The 2.3L EcoBoost four-cylinder has also been upgraded and now generates 310 horsepower and 350 lb. -ft. of torque - a 30 lb. -ft. gain over the current model.
The new 10-speed features direct-acting hydraulic controls, and boasts a wider ratio spread than the outgoing 6-speed with optimized spacing. As for the new Drag-Strip mode, one of the five in total driving modes, Ford says that it has been created to provide maximum acceleration and performance on a straight line, "eliminating the lost time usually associated with automatic shifting". However, we'll have to wait and see how these improvements actually play out in the street, on the track and, yes, at the drag strip.
Building out options and pricing for the new Mustang is going live on Ford's website starting tomorrow, and the auto will be available in showrooms starting this fall.
