Powers United VR game brings the world of Marvel to Oculus Rift

More than a dozen characters are expected to be playable, so we can expect many more to come soon, though these four are the only ones that the game's site has listed at this time.

Marvel Powers United VR is a new virtual reality project in the works for Oculus VR. The many big announcements and reveals coming out of today's D23 Expo are only serving to add fuel to that fire. A short video was shown with popular Twitch streamers playing through a snippet of the game. There is now no release date attached to the title.

As for the game's heroes, the trailer featured The Incredible Hulk, Rocket Racoon, and Captain Marvel, but it stands to reason that the final version of the game will feature a much larger roster of playable heroes. Transform into your favorite Marvel Super Hero and wield their unbelievable powers and weaponry in your hands.

The game will offer a co-op experience, enabling you to team up with your friends, assume the role of a Marvel hero and engage in immersive, explosive co-op fights from across the Marvel Universe.

As the Hulk, you'll get to use the Oculus Touch and smash everything in your path. One time you may get the Kree and Ronan The Accuser as a boss; another time you'll get something totally different. Captain Marvel sits at eye level unleashing speedy kicks and attacks.

Powers United VR, an Oculus-exclusive, looks pretty similar to existing VR wave shooters like Robo Recall, though its multiplayer could spice things up a bit.
