Australian woman killed in Minneapolis police shooting


Authorities have not released the woman's name and are waiting to notify her relatives in Australia.

Australian media reported on Sunday that 40-year-old Justine Ruszczyk, also known as Justine Damond, was the woman killed in the officer-involved shooting over the weekend.

The Minneapolis Star Tribune reported that Damond called 911 to report a suspicious noise.

The Hennepin county Medical Examiner's Office is conducting an autopsy.

Justine, who lived on Sydney's Northern Beaches before she relocated to Minneapolis, Minnesota, was a popular meditation coach and motivational speaker, as well as a trained veterinarian.

"Justine was one of the most peaceful, calm, helpful people I have ever met", they wrote.

"I'm so done with all this violence, it's so much bulls-t".

Police and Hodges referred questions about the details of the shooting and the investigation to the state Bureau of Criminal Apprehension (BCA), which is handling the case. "The City will continue to provide updated information on this incident, and the BCA's investigation, as soon as we have it".
