Winfrey, Hamill & More Honored as Disney Legends at D23 Expo 2017


The letter read: 'As far back as I can remember, my mom and I have been Disney fanatics.

Asked by Yahoo Movies what her favorite Disney movie is, the View host and EGOT victor deferred picking favorites and instead brought up Song of the South, the 1946 Walt Disney-produced live-action/animated film that has remained unreleased for decades due to its racially insensitive portrayal of African Americans in the Reconstruction Era. "Star Wars" creator George Lucas and Johnny Depp were among the Disney Legends inductees in 2015. The announcement says by adding Disney Legend to her honors, she becomes the only "LEGOT" in the world. Carrie played Princess Leia Organa, Luke's twin, in Star Wars. I'm beyond grateful to Mr. Iger and everyone at Disney for this incredible honor. We had huge fights, and not speak to each other. but we loved each other. "I know if she were here this morning, she would've flipped me the bird at least twice this morning", he joked.

Fisher's on-screen brother, Mark Hamill, was also inducted as a Disney Legend, using his time at the podium to honor the actress.

Marvel mastermind Stan Lee, Whoopi Goldberg, Oprah Winfrey and the late Garry Marshall also received Disney Legends status at the ceremony.
