Bakayoko Joins Chelsea From Monaco

Bakayoko came through the Rennes academy in France, playing his senior debut in August 2013. His performances at Monaco saw him earn his first cap for the French national team while also being named in the 2016-17 Champions League's Squad of the Season.

"He needed minor knee surgery at the end of last season which is why this deal has dragged on for so long".

Tiemoue Bakayoko's long-awaited move to Chelsea is finally complete after weeks and weeks of speculation.

At some point, Man United fans thought their club had pipped Chelsea to the midfielder's signature (just as was the case with the signing of Romelu Lukaku).

Chelsea FC posted a press release featuring the now former Monaco midfielder proudly sporting his new blue shirt.

Manchester United do not want to sign Chelsea target Tiemoue Bakayoko and have not submitted a bid for the Monaco midfielder.

Conte has made Bakayoko his main target for most of last summer and his acquisition means, Chelsea can now let Matic go.

Prior to Kante, the most expensive player ever signed by the Blues in the position was Cesc Fabregas, who joined for £30m from Barcelona in the summer of 2014.

Chelsea however, are open to Matic leaving the country instead of signing to a direct rival, not excluding United.

After weeks of speculation about the transfer, news that the 22-year-old is Stamford Bridge-bound hardly comes as a surprise - especially not to numerous Manchester United supporters that saw the Mail's tweet about it on Thursday. That eventually led to the two clubs agreeing a package that will see Chelsea pay £39.7m for the player.
