Reacting on AIADMK leader VK Sasikala getting a VIP treatment in jail, Director General of Police (Prison) Sathyanarayana Rao said that if Sasikala has observed something in prison she should discuss. Siddaramaiah said he has ordered a high-level inquiry into the matter.

An explosive report filed by Karnataka IPS officer Roopa D, has alleged that Sasikala Natarajan, now lodged in the Bengaluru central prison, is being given special treatment. There is also a talk that ₹2 crore has been paid as bribe for this. "The Karnataka government must take appropriate action", AIADMK Rajya Sabha MP V Maitreyan said. "I am told that Rs 2 crores were given in bribes to provide special privileges to her and unfortunately the allegation is on you", the report addressed to DGP Prisons, HN Satyanarayana Rao says. In the letter, Roopa claimed that other convicts such as Abdul Kareem, accused in a stamp paper scam, also get special facilities such as massages. It is also common to hear about allegations of sexual harassment of women prisoners.

Denying that the report was sent after office hours, the DIG said the report was sent around 4.35 p.m., which comes within the working hours. The prison staff havealso helped her set up a kitchen in her cell, which amounts to grossviolation of prison rules and manual. However, the DG (Prisons) has rejected the allegations saying no such favours were provided to Sasikala, according to reports.

"I'm open to any investigation".

Rao also went on to say: "The court had ordered to give assistance to Sasikala, and we are only following court orders". Rao further said he had issued two memos to Roopa - for going to the media and posting information on social media, and not attending the Chief Minster's meeting.
