Naik apparently criticized Collector Meena publicly and even requested the government several times to transfer her.

Telangana chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao ordered a party lawmaker to apologise to a woman officer, allegedly for touching her inappropriately. "The incident reflects the lack of concern for women in TRS government which has no lady MLA in the entire cabinet", he said.
Mahabubabad police registered cases against the MLA under Section 353 (assault or criminal force to deter public servant from discharge of his duty), 354 (Assault or criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty) and 509 (Word, gesture or act meant to insult the modesty of a woman). The employees of the collectorate also staged a protest against the MLA by wearing black badges. Shankar Naik, the legislator from Mahbubabad, was forced to offer an unconditional apology to district collector Preethi Meena after footage of the incident was aired by channels. He also threatened to suspend him from the party, if he did not change his behaviour. The collector lodged a complaint with the town police about the MLA's misbehaviour.

Meanwhile, the state IAS officer's association office bearers met here and discussed the issue and are expected to meet the Chief Minister to urge him to initiate action against the MLA. The MLA said the collector is like his sister and may have touched her unexpectedly.
In March, another TRS MLA Rasamayi Balakishan shouted at Karimnagar district collector Sarfraz Ahmed from a public dais for not carrying his photograph on the flex banner for a Figi-Dhan mela programme.
