Tebow is mostly known for his Gator Glory, winning the Heisman Trophy with the Florida Gators and leading to team to a national title while playing on a team that won another one.

Before his final game with Columbia Fireflies, Tebow spoke with reporters about his time in the city.

Tebow was batting just.222 at Class A Columbia, but Sandy Alderson says the Mets were impressed by his improving exit velocity, metrics. "There's a lot smarter, wiser people than me that make those decisions".

Fans and other teams in the Palmetto State have praised Tebow for his ability to sell out stadiums at home and on the road.

Adonis Uceta (3-0) got the win with a scoreless inning in relief while Ben Wright (1-6) took the loss in the South Atlantic League game.

Tebow helped push the Fireflies' average attendance up almost 40 percent over a year ago to a South Atlantic League-lead of 5,230. "As an athlete you can't worry about those things".

When he visited Charleston earlier this month, the RiverDogs had a few jokes waiting for him.

"I obviously love Florida so this is nice", he said with a grin.
