President Trump instead marked Ramadan with an official statement, delivered May 26, the day before the Islamic holy month began.

"We've been working for months with five local Mosques and our charity partner Human Appeal to organise the community for a memorable day of prayer, games and fun". If the new moon, Crescent, is sighted, the next day is counted as first day of the next month.

India's less Muslim populated states like Gujarat and Rajasthan are all set to celebrate Eid al-Fitr if they will sight the moon today.
