Bartlett Kicks Off USATF 2017 Outdoor Championships

Austin Corley will compete at the USATF Outdoor Championships in Sacramento, Calif., while Kendra Henry will compete on the Junior Championship side in the Heptathlon this week. Lipsey will wrap up the day by running in the semifinal round of the women's 800 meters at 10:28 p.m. Day 2 at the USATF Championships will air live on NBC Sports Network from 9:30-11:30 p.m. CT.

Cherry won the first preliminary heat of the men's 400-meter dash with an time of 45.08 seconds to rank fifth overall in the opening round, while Lipsey also advanced as a heat victor in the women's 800 meters after running 2 minutes, 3.28 seconds in the second heat to qualify 11th overall in her event.

Georgia Tech track and field sophomore Avery Bartlett finished 27th in the first round of the men's 800m at the USATF 2017 Outdoor Championships on Thursday night.

The Rochester, N.Y., native also claimed bronze in the 800m at the ACC Outdoor Championships and ran a leg of the school-record holding 4x100m relay this season. This Utah State quartet recently concluded their freshman campaigns.

Garren recorded her qualifying marks of 47 feet, 7.25 inches in the shot put and 165-5 in the hammer throw, both of which are personal bests, at the USU-hosted Mark Faldmo Invitational and BYU-hosted Clarence Robison Invitational, respectively.

Harman notched his qualifying time of 14:31.72 in the 5,000, which is a personal best, at the UC Irvine-hosted Spring Collegiate Classic. Her time in the 3,000 ranks fifth all-time in school history. Qualifiers of the USATF Junior Championships, which runs concurrently, will compete at the Pan American Junior Championships in July in Lima, Peru.
