As part of a 180-day overhaul of the beleaguered multibillion-dollar company, Uber will soon open up tipping to all USA drivers who want it.

The company is trying to burnish an image tarnished by revelations of sexual harassment and other bad behavior in its office, as well as allegations of trade secrets theft and an investigation into its efforts to mislead government regulators.

The transportation services provider's customers will now be able to tip their drivers, making up an important part of the income of taxi drivers that Uber is now on board with.

You can tip your driver.

Passengers will be given some preset tip amounts to choose from, or they can enter in an amount of their choosing. The feature has been rolled out in Seattle, Houston and Minneapolis first, according to the Uber website. Unlike taxis where you tip before you get out of the vehicle, Uber riders will have 30 days from the conclusion of their trip to add a tip.

Here's how drivers can start accepting tips: Update or download the most recent version of the Uber Driver app, close and restart the app, and then tap "Accept Tips". Because it's the right thing to do, it's long overdue, and there's no time like the present,"se it's the right thing to do, it's long overdue, and there's no time like the present", said Schildkrout. Uber has also told riders that there's "no need" to tip their drivers.

Uber has just announced significant changes to their business in an email sent to drivers and delivery partners. Drivers will earn a per-minute rate for any rider who isn't ready to go beginning two minutes after arrival. The company cites the time invested by the driver to get to a rider's location and the added stress waiting for the rider puts on the driver. Both features will be available nationwide in August 2017.

"To help drivers make the most of their time, we're reducing the cancellation window". This feature is available now in certain markets, and should be available to all drivers by the end of August.
