Tiger Woods arrested in Florida for DUI

Police recorded the arrest at 07:18 local time (11:18 GMT) and the golfer was released a few hours later, records from Palm Beach County police show. Police in Florida say Tiger Woods has been arrested for DUI.

He said in a statement last month: "The surgery went well, and I'm optimistic this will relieve my back spasms and pain".

In the blog discussing his surgery, he wrote last week that he "hadn't felt this good in years", but added: "I'm not looking ahead". This one was a microdiscectomy for a pinched nerve that caused him to miss the 2014 Masters and two additional events in March.

As for returning to competitive golf, the long-term prognosis is positive.

Woods collided with a fire hydrant, tree and several hedges while still on his street and was charged with careless driving.

Woods hasn't won a major since 2008, when he won the US Open in sudden death over Rocco Mediate. Woods crashed his Escalade outside his Florida home, and the fallout that ensued included minor injuries and major damage to his public image as a litany of women claimed extramarital affairs with Woods. The couple divorced in 2010.

Woods apologized to his family, friends and fans and said, "I expect more from myself, too".

Tiger Woods' life - and career - are in the rough again.

Woods then entered a 45-day rehab program and offered a mea culpa to disappointed fans: "I thought I could get away with whatever I wanted to".
