Pekka Rinne, Predators beat Blackhawks 1-0 in Game 1

In NHL playoff history, the team that leads a series 2-0 wins that series 88 percent of the time. The only reason Nashville escaped the second period with its one-goal lead miraculously intact was because of Rinne's acrobatics in net.

Scoring their first goal against Pekka Rinne this postseason would be a good start. The Predators are the eighth seed.

"I've said it before, I think we play defense as a team wonderful well", Rinne said after game two.

The Predators are the fifth team in National Hockey League history to start a postseason with back-to-back road shutouts, the first since Toronto in 2001, according to Elias Sports.

In Washington, the Maple Leafs triumphed 4-3 in double OT to level their series against the Capitals. "We can learn from these games, make the necessary adjustments". So far, so good, though, for the Preds.

I don't think anyone saw this coming. "Bring that next game". Everybody was responsible, from the coaches down to every single player. At least not yet.

Tickets for Game 3, Game 4 and Game 6 are still available. Toronto counterpart Frederik Andersen was arguably the best player on the ice with 41 saves before being beaten by Wilson with an absurd shot on the victor. The goal marked the first of Sissons' playoff career.

The Bruins are back in Boston hoping to start healing up a bit, and forward Noel Acciari could be the next to return.

"It was good to get a balance", Laviolette said. Nashville hasn't even fully opened up the throttle on their offense, and even that hasn't been enough to help guys like Campbell and Oduya on the back end as they struggle to keep up with the Predators' forwards. ". We should feel comfortable and confident right now". But until Nashville demonstrates the clutch execution that Chicago majors in, I'm going with the home team manufacturing the winning goal in the third period of the decisive game.

Rinne heads into Saturday's game with a 23-26 career record in the postseason.

"You don't want it to be easy", Holtby said. That is the problem that needs fixed right now if the Blackhawks are going to get back into this thing. "So that depth is going to be huge for us". This path through the playoffs always seemed like a daunting one for Nashville given the way Chicago played in the second half (and with a potential Minnesota matchup looming in round two - they now trail St. Louis 3-0) but it has shown so far that it is more than up to the challenge. They insist the painful lesson was learned as they try to protect this lead. Zolnierczyk got behind the defense of Johnny Oduya and Brent Seabrook and took a perfectly executed stretch pass from Mattias Ekholm to beat Crawford as Oduya tried to chase. Pekka Rinne is human; they just need to find his flaws. The series lasts seven games; there is still plenty of time for the Blackhawks to turn it around.

"Now we've talked about momentum in the series and momentum within a game", Gulutzan said. This thing can change quickly.

You should be perturbed at what transpired on Saturday night. Coach Randy Carlyle said Vatanen will be reassessed Monday.
