-- Astros top pitching prospect Francis Martes is scheduled to make his third start for Class AAA Fresno on Saturday.

In Tuesday's matchup, the Angels scored four runs in the fifth inning on the way to a 5-2 victory.

Loss Angeles Angels starting pitcher J.C. Ramirez reacts after being pulled against the Houston Astros in the sixth inning of a baseball game, Wednesday, April 19, 2017, in Houston. But they were left stranded as Shoemaker struck out Marwin Gonzalez as the first of 10 straight Astros he retired.

That Morton posted five scoreless innings was a feat of sleight of hand, as he found trouble two outs into the first inning and failed to produce a clean frame. Morton had runners every inning and even the bases loaded in the second, yet he never broke to allow any runs to cross the plate.

Chris Devenski came in for two ideal innings in which he struck out the side in the sixth and added one more in the seventh for good measures.

"Just trying to break the routine a little bit. sometimes you've got to go American Legion and come out here and just play", he said with a smile. "Last two games haven't worked our way, but we put ourselves in position to have a chance".

Leading 3-1 in the seventh inning, Reddick blasted a 1-2 pitch from Mike Morin into the front row in right field for a two-run home run.

The Angels optioned C Carlos Perez to Triple-A Salt Lake before the game and called up C Juan Graterol. Meyer is 0-0 with a 4.80 ERA in three minor league starts this season.
