According to Variety, the upcoming installment of the zombie apocalypse series will explore the character arcs of Simon (Steven Ogg), Enid (Katelyn Nacon), and Jadis (Pollyanna McIntosh), which means that viewers can expect more from these people when the show returns.
"The Walking Dead" Characters Jadis, Negan's henchmen Simon, Carl's Love Interest Enid Promoted To Series Regulars: Will They Play Huge Roles In Upcoming War? Led by Jadis, their unusual way of talking and living was unlike anything seen on the hit AMC zombie drama before. And with Maggie's baby on the way and fearless Sasha in the ground, Enid looks like a good bet for big sister/junior-leader-in-training material, rather than just Carl's crush, Judith's sometime nanny and Hilltop's healthy-meal maker. Sonequa Martin-Green, who played Sasha, died in the season finale. So glad to see more of him in Season 8.
Gimple added, "It's essentially for the whole world as far as their experience". While there was little doubt that The Saviors or The Hilltop could be around for the long haul, the future of The Scavengers, who were not a part of the comic book series, was definitely not a lock.More news: Rockets vs Thunder is marquee first-round match to watch
With Rick finally bringing some spirit back to the group and having a sensational standoff with Negan in the final episode of season 7, the players are now in position for the war to kick off properly. The Governor just wanted them dead. There's a very basic political idea at play here. "To that end, that idea feels to me like the beginning of civilization is at stake, this new civilization they want to build rather than live this odd half-life serving a despot".
The renewal was announced by AMC Monday and aside from getting new showrunners for the show, Scott M. Gimple, showrunner for the parent show "The Walking Dead" will become the series' executive producer, The Star reported.
