Mourinho tells Martial he needs to see more from French forward

'His experience, his know-how of this knockout phase, I think is a player who can be useful tomorrow.

"I don't know whether the game should be played behind closed doors or somewhere else, but it would be very unsafe for us to play with the same supporters (as in the first leg)", he said.

"That's why Marcus Rashford, even without scoring goals, was always a player that I trust, always a player that I played, always a player that I support". You can't leave him alone for a single second, you can't give him too much space to operate.

"So do I think Anthony is a player with great potential?"

Manchester United's Ander Herrera is having the most consistent season of his three-year spell in England, but he is still losing sleep because he feels that his position may be threatened if the club strengthen their midfield after the current campaign.

Speaking in his press conference, Mourinho believes Martial still has the ability to become a very successful player.

"He's working now, he's improving and if in this training session [yesterday afternoon] the answer is positive, I would select him to be on the bench tomorrow", Mourinho commented.

United face Anderlecht in the second leg of their Europa League quarter-final Thursday, with the aggregate scores poised at 1-1.

"Hopefully we can go all the way and win silverware".

Mkhitaryan's 37th-minute strike at Constant Vanden Stock Stadium last week looked set to give United victory, only for Leander Dendoncker's header to draw Anderlecht level four minutes from time. "He can help us".

Insisting that there must be no complacency amongst his players, Mourinho also revealed that Sergio Romero would start in goal, ahead of David De Gea.

The former Athletic Bilbao star has made 41 appearances across all competitions, helping the Red Devils win the League Cup and mount a Europa League challenge.

"I never like to do that, complete separation".

"I have another year left on my contract and a one-year option after that", Young told reporters. "Manchester United were really strong and very impressive", he said.
